Oscar hopes of Baahubali got diminished. Marathi movie ‘Court’ was selected as India’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category at Oscar awards. Film Federation of India jury headed by film-maker Amol Palekar selected court as official entry to the 88th academy awards.
‘Court’ was selected from a shortlist of 30 films. Court is directed by Debutant Chaitanya Tamhane and it won National award. It is an emotional and touching film and based on India’s judicial system.
The jury had watched some critically acclaimed movies like PK, Haider, “Kaaka Muttai”, “Baahubali” and “Kuttram Kadithal” to made final decision. Apart from national award Court has won several coveted awards. Meanwhile the 88th Oscar awards ceremony will be held on February 28, 2016.
